Characteristics
Several years ago David Hancock picked up what was left in the 1970's,
The Round Britain Rally.
Starting with a small group of enthousists, the event is now again
a mature rally with more than a 100 'competitors' in the millenium year.
Events of these size are getting in the picture of all kinds of media and
so I read a small article in the Gambalunga (MGCGB, Britsh Guzzisti) that
Guzzi participation was a little under what it should be statistically.
Well, time to get the good old LeMans over the channel and go for the gold
plate.
Of course the British participants in this rally have the advantage
that they don't have to cross this channel, but I figured it would give
British Guzzi Riders the mental support to go for a considerable part of
the ca. 7000 km or miles on your Majesties roads in the next year.
Baggar, there was a cow eating chinese food and the whole event (at
least my trip) had to move to September.
In order to get it all going, I followed the advice of David and prepared
the routes, even in roadbooks, in order to be riding the bike instead of
looking on maps. The route is made in this way, that if you start at Kingston
upon Hull (dikke l.ll, kijk nou, die Franzen) you can ride more or less
the points of a star and return to Hull (the ferry to the Netherlands)
over the motorways in several (some times several more) hours.
Interested, you can use my roadbooks for the year 2001, but for this
rally you will be too late. For a small fee you can get all the official
Round Britain stuff (see the RBR homepage) and really participate in the
oncoming year
